A look at the life and career of architect Frank Gehry (1929 - ), a visit to four buildings (the Vitra Museum in Germany, Maggie's Centre, the Guggenheim in Bilbao, and the Disney Concert Hall in L.A.), and an inquiry into creativity in conversations between Ghery and Sidney Pollack, whom Gehry asked to make this picture. Early experiences (playing with blocks with his grandmother, drawing with his father, hearing Alvar Aalto lecture), discovering computer-assisted design, finding a psychoanalyst, experimenting on his own home, and bringing an artist and sculptor's sensibility to architecture are part of Gehry's story. 非典型纪录片，但更别致生动的为我们讲述了gehry的思想内核
在学校Edge艺术楼Studio里看的 摄影和配乐很赞 邻座小哥全程在昏暗光线里做笔记 片子放完才知道在场全是建筑系师生TAT 本来现场还有talkshow 然而提到太多建筑术语 啥也没听懂加之时间已晚就提前离席了 也是忧伤
盖瑞的建筑设计太重心于外观，而最终作品却又为了反传统反常规而突显的过于怪异。我喜欢的建筑首先是内部设计的舒适性，然后是建筑整体的科技力量。至于外观，我住在房间里又看不见，那个是最不在意的。也许我就是那种虚荣心不强的人吧。

看盖里78年的作品和他的工作方式，真是深受Rauschenberg的影响，后者是想把各种元素从艺术中解放找到它们的各自自由。而盖里则是在各种材料中构建韵律与和谐，但同时尽量保留创作中的随机性。那些已经躺在历史里的大师们。
7.3 显然，是一位追求无限的建筑师
with Yifan. 虽然我们没听太多台词，但这种经历很好。
纪录片拍得真不怎么样……东拍一点西拍一点在凑的感觉，想到哪拍到哪，让观者感觉刚捕捉到了点什么，思维就被打断了……所以看得是又累又郁闷。唯一的感受就是，拍这种大师的纪录片还是应该找个懂点设计的人来拍…波拉克虽然是Gehry请来的，但真是非常非常失策啊
盖里长得好丑很奇怪这么丑的人怎么设计出那么梦幻又可爱的房子。西班牙和布拉格以及迪斯尼乐园感觉是最适合他风格的地方了
Gehry的设计有时候太...刻意了好嘛...
I watched this with Mr. Frank Gehry. And can't forget his tears and sobbing for Mr. Sydney Pollack, his sincere friend and the director of this documentary. Mr. Pollack spent 6 years following Mr. Gehry for this film. Mr. Gehry is the nicest Starchitect I've ever seen.
Decoration is sin, Material, Space, Light, 好多人对gehry都有误解，他促成了DP的诞生，但是他做设计跟软件根本没关系，就像simpson里面讽刺为随便一捏的纸团，可就是纸团，gehry也是不停的在做physical model推敲，看似无序的设计，其实非常rational。学到好多，周末一定再看一遍。
