The path of Francesca Johnson's future seems destined when an unexpected fork in the road causes her to question everything she had come to expect from life. While her husband and children are away at the Illinois state fair in the summer of 1965, Robert Kincaid happens turn into the Johnson farm and asks Francesca for directions to Roseman Bridge. Francesca later learns that he was in Iowa on assignment from National Geographic magazine. She is reluctant seeing that he's a complete stranger and then she agrees to show him to the bridges and gradually she talks about her life from being a war-bride from Italy which sets the pace for this bittersweet and all-too-brief romance of her life. Through the pain of separation from her secret love and the stark isolation she feels as the details of her life consume her, she writes her thoughts of the four-day love affair which took up three journals. The journals are found by her children after the lawyer was going over Francesca's will and all the contents which produces a key to her hope chest in the bedroom which contained some of hers and Robert's things. The message they take from the diaries is to what you what you have to do to be happy in life. After learning that Robert Kincaid's cremated remains were scattered off Roseman Bridge and that their mother requested that she too be cremated and her ashes to be scattered off Roseman Bridge, the children must decide whether to honor their mother's final wishes or bury her alongside their father as the family had planned. 看过几次看不进去，直到自己进入围城，泪目
质感氛围太棒了。悠长的夏日与一个自由又艺术的灵魂进行碰撞，没有家务琐事，只有交谈、相片、酒精与四日间纠葛的情愫。
真的很好看，电影的意义也有这方面，展现出的内容足以让我感动，推荐观看。

心被男主晚年追忆这段感情的那一幕击中……
所以… 今生缘浅，人海却茫茫， 就在人群中相见吧， 在四季轮替的雨天， 在长满大树的林中， 在星海远处，在山河人间……
爱和责任选哪一个？活着的时候选择责任，死后选择爱吧！

年少时的无知啊，得在奔四才会忍不住看两遍
两个人相遇之后，每一个镜头、每一个动作都充满了情感，充盈得几乎要溢出画框。对白写得好极了，东木和林克莱特携手提高了1995年的浪漫指数。在这样的电影面前，任何主义都失去了意义。《廊桥遗梦》的勇敢并不仅仅在于越界，更在于说明无论在什么年龄都要正视欲望。当然，只有在道德困境下叙述爱的非理性，才能凸显悲剧性。

每次看到这样的电影我就想“这样确切的爱一生只有一次，也许应该跟他走，跟随自己的心”但是转念就想到暗恋桃花源。也许美丽本来就应该是短暂的是有遗憾的。
